Q. Can my family and I get permanent residence based on my L-1A status?

A. You being here in L-1A status suggests an easy  route to you and your family getting permanent residence. L-1 status is for business transferees from abroad. The transferee comes here to work for the company he or she was working for abroad, or for a subsidiary or affiliate. The transferee must have worked for the company as a manager or executive, or in a position where he or she gained specialized knowledge of the activities of the company.The employee must have worked for the company for one of three years before coming the US.

L-1A signifies that the visa holder is a manager or executive. intracompany transferee get residence without having to prove that no qualified US workers can do their job. These transferees qualify in the First Employment-Based preference, where visas are immediately available for immigrants from all countries.
