Uncooked Bean Curd

An old man was very rich but extremely stingy. For his daily three meals he never ate any meat or vegetables but used his chopsticks to dip a little saltwater on his rice.

Someone said to him, "While you are so frugal, your son is out whoring, gambling, feasting and drinking. Is it worthy for you to live such a dog's life?"

"You are right. From now on, then, I'll have a piece of uncooked bean curd at meals," said the old man with scorn, "and I'll enjoy it very much."
