He Bit Off His Own Nose

Two men, A and B, once came to blows, A bit off B's nose, so B, in much pain, took A to the county magistrate to the have the case judged.

"How dare you bite off B's nose!" the magistrate said.

"B bit off his own nose. It has nothing to do with me," A answered.

"Nonsense!" Everyone knows the nose is higher than the mouth. How can the mouth reach the nose?" the magistrate said severely.

"By standing on a bench," A said cunningly.

"Oh, so that is how it is!" said the magistrate nodding his head slightly.
