Printing from wooden blocks was known as
early as A.D. 581-618, being practiced during the course of the next three hundred years
in the Tang dynasty, and was adopted by Imperial order in reproducing the Classics in A.D.
952,thus anticipating Gutenberg and Caxton's discovery and work in Europe by five
centuries.
